MINISTRY OF LAND AND PHYSICAL PLANNING

A Commissioner assisted by a Permanent secretary heads the Ministry of Land and physical planning. It has 6 Departments: Administration and General Services, Land, Survey, Deeds, Physical and Cadastral.

The Kano State Environmental Planning and Protection Agency is under the supervision of the ministry.

The ministry carries out the following functions:Preparation and demarcation of layoutsPhysical planning in the stateProcessing of building plans in respect of rural areas Land acquisition and resettlementCollection of land charges/fees.

KANO STATE ENVIRONMENTAL PLANNING AND PROTECTION AGENCY (KASEPPA)

The primary objective is to ensure a well planned and organized urban development through the control of Land - Use in all urban centers of the State. Edict number 15 of 1990 established it. The Organization has a chairman as head of the board and a Managing Director as the chief executive.

Some of its functions include provision of planning scheme for urban centers, development control in urban centers, provision of amenities, conveniences and infrastructures, designing of layouts for various purposes and other functions necessary for healthy and orderly urban growth.

The functions cover all the Headquarters of Local Governments of the State and include designing of master plan for them, granting of building permission, designing, construction and maintenance of roads and drainages.
