MINISTRY OF BUDGET AND ECONOMIC PLANNING

This government organ has existed in various forms as ministry of economic development, department of budget, directorate of budget and economic planning and economic planning commission under the immediate past administration.

A commissioner heads this ministry. It consists of five departments, each headed by a Director. The staff strength is 132 made up of 37 junior and 95 senior staff. Its major function is economic planning and policy coordination. There is one organization under the supervision of this ministry.

It is the Project Monitoring and Evaluation Bureau, which, is headed by a Permanent Secretary. This Bureau is mandated to monitor and evaluate all government projects and report to the State Executive Council in line with the present administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
